Rishikesh

Just managed a hectic but fun filled day trip to Rishikesh… Its about 220-240 Kms from Delhi and can be reached in about 6-7 hrs.
Rishikesh is famous as a pilgrim destination and the place is dotted with numerous temples and ashrams all along the Ganges.
You can drive all the way into the city and would then need to cross over to the east-side bank through the Ram or the Lakshman Jhoola- these are the twin hanging bridges over the fast flowing Ganges at Rishikesh.
Apart from the high spiritual index of the place- its a popular adventure sport destination also. One can book 4 or 6 hr white water rafting trips from places (Sivpuri etc) above Rishikesh ….
